What does BAS offer members?

The Baltimore Astrological Society brought together astrology enthusiasts through a monthly column authored by Kari, an events calendar shared with Annapolis NCGR, and practical resources for learning to set and read a natal chart. Members could also connect through the group's Meetup page and follow announcements on Facebook.

Newsletters, "Astrology and Astronomy News," and educational links to ephemeris tools rounded out the site's offerings for both newcomers and longtime practitioners of astrology.

Explore Education

The Baltimore Astrological Society exists to nurture a warm, welcoming home for anyone curious about the stars. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner, a student just beginning to explore the zodiac, or simply someone who has always wondered what the sky has to say, the society offers a supportive environment built on shared curiosity and mutual encouragement. Members come together regularly to exchange ideas, ask questions, and grow in their understanding of astrological practice. The community values openness above all, ensuring that newcomers feel comfortable asking even the most basic questions without judgment. There is no single path into astrology, and the society honors the many ways people arrive at this ancient study.

Education sits at the heart of everything the society does. Through lectures, workshops, and guided discussions, members have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of chart reading, planetary cycles, and the rich symbolic language of astrology. The emphasis is always on practical, usable understanding rather than abstract theory. Participants learn how to cast a natal chart, interpret planetary placements, and weave astrological insight into everyday life. Whether you are preparing for professional certification or simply wish to read your own chart with greater confidence, the educational offerings are designed to meet you where you are and carry you forward at your own pace.

Community building is a central pillar of the Baltimore Astrological Society's mission. The group actively maintains connections with neighboring astrology organizations, including a shared events calendar with the Annapolis chapter of the National Council for Geocosmic Research. This collaboration expands the range of programming available to members and fosters a broader sense of belonging across the region. Regular gatherings, whether in person or online, provide a space for meaningful conversation, shared discovery, and the simple pleasure of spending time with people who share your fascination with the cosmos. Friendships formed within the society often extend well beyond the meeting room.

The society publishes a monthly column that offers members and the wider public a regular dose of astrological insight. Written in an approachable, conversational tone, the column explores current planetary movements, seasonal themes, and practical ways to work with the energy of each month. It serves as a gentle reminder that astrology is not merely a distant academic pursuit but a living, breathing practice that can inform our daily choices and deepen our self-awareness. The column has become a beloved touchpoint for the community, a reliable rhythm that keeps members connected to one another and to the sky above them between scheduled events.

For those eager to stay informed about upcoming programming, the society maintains an active presence across several online platforms. A dedicated Meetup page serves as the primary hub for event announcements and RSVPs, while social media channels on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube offer additional ways to follow along with the community's activities. Recordings of past lectures and presentations are made available so that members who cannot attend live sessions can still benefit from the knowledge shared. This commitment to accessibility ensures that the society's educational offerings reach as many people as possible, regardless of scheduling constraints or geographical limitations.

Membership in the Baltimore Astrological Society is about more than attending events; it is about becoming part of a living tradition of astrological study that stretches back through generations. The society's mission is grounded in the belief that astrology offers genuine value for self-reflection, relationship building, and understanding the larger rhythms of life. By fostering a space where both traditional techniques and contemporary approaches can be explored side by side, the society keeps the practice vibrant and relevant. Members are encouraged to bring their own perspectives, questions, and experiences into the shared conversation, enriching the community for everyone involved.

Practical resources are a key offering of the society, designed to support members at every stage of their astrological journey. From guidance on setting up and reading a natal chart to recommended reading lists and study tools, these resources are curated with care by experienced practitioners. The goal is to demystify the technical aspects of astrology without sacrificing its depth and beauty. Whether you are learning to calculate planetary positions, interpret house placements, or simply build confidence in your own intuitive reading style, the society's resources provide a sturdy foundation to build upon, complemented always by the collective wisdom of the group.

The Baltimore Astrological Society welcomes new members at any time and encourages anyone with an interest in the sky to reach out and get involved. The community is intentionally sized to remain intimate and approachable, so that every voice can be heard and every question taken seriously. Whether you choose to attend a single lecture, join a study group, or become a regular participant in the society's ongoing programming, you will find a group of people genuinely delighted to share what they know and equally eager to learn from you. The stars have always brought people together, and this society carries that tradition forward with warmth and generosity.
